Winter Break Closing

All Ohio University residence halls will officially close on Friday, December 13 at 8:00 PM. Students must vacate their residence hall within 24 hours of their last exam or by 8:00 PM Friday, December 13, whichever comes first. Students with a Friday exam, graduating, working the commencement ceremony, or has an extenuating circumstance (ie. Saturday GoBus) may request a one night extension by visiting www.ohio.edu/myhousing. To request an extension, click on the 'Applications' tab and complete the "Fall Semester One Night Extension". Students receiving an extension must check out no later than 8:00 PM on Saturday, December 14.

Fees: Beginning at 8:00 PM Friday, December 13 , a charge of  $25  per hour and every hour after will be imposed to students who do not vacate the residence halls on time and did not file an extension request.  A  $100 minimum fee  is charged to students who do not complete the checkout process properly .

24-Hour Quiet Hours For Finals Week

24-hour quiet hours are Friday, December 6 at 5:00 PM through Friday, December 13 at 8:00 PM. Final exams create higher anxiety levels, so study hard and be considerate of your neighbors. Violations of quiet hours may result in conduct referral and residents may be asked to checkout immediately.

Room Cleaning

Rooms must be clean prior to departure. Trash must be removed and taken to the dumpster outside of the building. Remove all food items from the microwave and refrigerator units; defrost the units and clean the microwave and fridge. Wipe down surfaces inside and out. Unplug and leave doors open. The cord should be put over the front of the refrigerator.

Winter Break Housing

Students needing to remain on campus for any portion of Winter Break can elect to stay in Interim Housing. Interim Housing is available from Saturday, December 14 through Wednesday, January 8 at which point the spring semester housing contract will be in effect.

The online application for Interim Housing reservations opened October 1 and a reservation is required. To make a reservation, visit www.ohio.edu/myhousing, click on the ‘Applications’ tab, and select “Winter Break Housing Request” application. The cost for interim housing is $30/night, $125/week or $400/month and will be charged directly to the student's account.

Food Service

Food Collection

All residence halls will be collecting nonperishable food items for local food pantries at the end of the semester. Look for bins on the ground floor of your residence hall or see your RA for more details.

Not Returning for Spring 2020 Semester?

Students who are not returning for the Spring 2020 semester will need to check out of their residence hall space by January 12, 2020 at 10:00 PM to avoid spring semester charges. Students must officially check out with an in-hall staff member, complete the Room Condition Report and return their room key to properly check out.  Students can check out at their residence hall anytime between 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on January 9-10, or 9:00 AM -10:00 PM on January 11-12 with an in-hall staff member. Once the student properly checks out no later than 10:00 PM on Sunday, January 12 and withdraws from classes, the spring semester room and board charge will be removed from the student’s account by Monday, January 20.  Students checking out after 10:00 PM on Sunday, January 12 will be subject to the refund schedule.

Students with a Bobcat Cash balance of $15 or more, who are not returning next semester, are eligible for a REFUND. The Bobcat Cash Account Balance & Refund Policy and the electronic refund form can be found at https://www.ohio.edu/bobcat-cash.

Transportation to Airport

Storage is offered at off campus storage companies. There are no University affiliated storage options.
